Every time there is a sexual offender released accidentally the Government should issue a public alert, says Jenrick
SINCE taking over as Justice Secretary, David Lammy has presided over a circus.
This year, 262 prisoners were released early — more than double the year before.

Yet Calamity Lammy won’t tell us how many of those have been returned to prison, how many are violent or sexual offenders, and how many are still on the streets.
He’s either clueless, or he’s hiding the truth from the British people to cover up his failures.
Either way, it’s a dereliction of duty.
The public deserves to know the truth, and so do their innocent victims.

Every time there is a sexual offender or criminal released accidentally the Government should issue a public alert.
It shouldn’t be left to newspapers, like The Sun, to uncover these fiascos.
Only once the ugly truth is out there might this Government be shamed into fixing this shambles.

Tuesday, November 4, 1pm: The Met Police is informed by the Prison Service that he is on the loose.
Overnight: Justice Secretary David Lammy is informed.
Wednesday, November 5, 11.45am: Tory MPs find out a wrongly released prisoner is at large.
Noon: Mr Lammy refuses to answer five times at PMQs if any asylum seeker prisoners have recently been released by mistake.
12.15pm: Mr Lammy takes a poppy badge from MP Calvin Bailey after starting PMQs without one.
Approx 12.45pm: No10 is unable to say what the Justice Secretary knew about any freed prisoners, or when.
1.40pm: Mr Lammy releases a statement saying he is “absolutely outraged” by the mistaken release of a foreign criminal.
4pm: Surrey Police announces another prisoner has accidentally been freed from HMP Wandsworth.
William Smith, 35, was released on Monday after being sentenced.
