At just 11 years old, Jami has faced more pain and hardship than most adults could ever imagine. Once a lively child with a radiant smile and dreams of a happy future, she now finds herself in a battle for her life. It all started in March 2022 when she was diagnosed with

hepatoblastoma, a rare and aggressive form of liver cancer. The tumor, measuring 15 centimeters, required the removal of three-quarters of her liver. For a time, it seemed like the worst was behind her, but cancer is relentless.

In February 2023, Jami’s fight took an even darker turn. She was rushed to a clinic in Turkey after the cancer returned with a vengeance. Metastases began spreading throughout her body, with lesions in her knee, vertebral discs, and other areas, including her pelvis and soft tissues. The pain, the procedures, and the constant battle against the disease became a daily struggle for this young girl, who had already endured so much.

Jami’s pain is unthinkable, yet she continues to fight with an incredible strength that belies her age. Every time the pain strikes, she asks, “Mom! Why did this happen to me?” And her mother can only look at her and wonder, just like the rest of us,

how can a child endure so much? Yet, Jami doesn’t give up. She clings to the hope of being able to smile again, to sit with her family at the dinner table, and to enjoy the simple pleasures of life, like eating her mother’s homemade vareniki (dumplings).

Despite everything, Jami’s spirit remains strong. She has undergone countless treatments and surgeries, but the cancer continues to challenge her every step of the way. The doctors have been amazed by how resilient she is, especially given her age and the severity of the disease. The treatment plan is constantly adjusted to keep up with the cancer’s progression, and Jami even had to change clinics to get the necessary

immunotherapy.

As her treatment was at risk due to the rising costs, the support of kind-hearted people came to the rescue. Thanks to your generosity, we were able to close the fundraiser, ensuring Jami could continue her treatment at the clinic where she’s currently being cared for.
