A one-year-old girl is fighting for her life after a terrifying accident left her clinically dead not once, but twice. Lillian, a bright and playful toddler from Arizona, fell into her family’s backyard swimming pool on a chilly Friday morning. What began as a joyful moment of play with her brothers quickly turned into a life-or-death emergency, leaving her parents and siblings in shock and fear.
According to her father, Lillian had been chasing her older brothers around the pool when a misstep sent her into the almost-freezing water. Her siblings screamed in panic, and another child raced outside to find Lillian floating face-up. With courage beyond his years, the sibling jumped into the 38-degree water, pulling her out and giving her firm back blows before running inside to alert their mother.

Lillian’s mother immediately began performing CPR, delivering chest compressions in a desperate bid to revive her daughter. Though Lillian coughed up water, she remained unresponsive. First-responders arrived quickly and rushed the baby to Cardon Children’s Medical Center in Mesa, Arizona. Tragically, she was pronounced dead upon arrival. Moments later, after further life-saving interventions, she was declared dead a second time. Her tiny body had been pushed to the brink, leaving the family devastated and fearing the worst.
Miraculously, signs of life returned. Hospital staff at the children’s center detected a faint heartbeat and immediately began advanced resuscitation, including intensive monitoring and the use of a ventilator. To support her struggling heart and lungs, Lillian was placed on a heart and lung bypass machine, giving her body a chance to recover from the multiple cardiac arrests she had endured.
Her parents described the ordeal as the most terrifying experience of their lives. “Seeing your child unresponsive, not knowing if she’s coming back, it’s something no parent should ever have to endure,” said her mother. Every second was filled with fear, prayers, and hope, as Lillian’s tiny body fought to survive the trauma. The family has since described the situation as nothing short of a miracle.

Despite the fragility of her condition, Lillian has clung to life. Her medical team continues to provide round-the-clock care, carefully monitoring her heart and lungs while she remains on the ventilator. Each breath, each flicker of movement, is a triumph. The family, overwhelmed by both fear and relief, has been holding onto faith and the possibility of a Christmas miracle as their daughter fights to recover.
The accident has also highlighted the incredible courage of Lillian’s siblings. The quick thinking of the child who first pulled her from the water may have been the difference between life and death. For the family, this act of bravery is a poignant reminder of how small actions can have life-saving consequences.
The community has rallied around the family in response to the crisis. A GoFundMe page created to assist with Lillian’s mounting medical bills and ongoing care has shared updates, revealing the baby’s critical condition and steady progress. The campaign states: “We, as a family, are in constant prayers to the Lord, in our hearts and minds, with gratitude and thanksgiving as we see this as a true Christmas miracle despite the obstacles surrounding her.”

Health experts emphasize the danger of near-drowning incidents, especially in young children. Even a brief submersion can lead to cardiac arrest, respiratory failure, and brain damage. The quick response of family members and medical teams, as in Lillian’s case, is crucial to survival. Her story underscores the importance of vigilance and immediate intervention when a child is at risk.
For Lillian’s parents, each moment with their daughter is now precious. Her family remains at her bedside, providing comfort, hope, and love during her ongoing battle. While her recovery is expected to be long and fraught with challenges, the fact that she survived multiple resuscitations is already extraordinary. Every day she continues to fight is a victory in itself.
The journey ahead will require patience, medical support, and resilience from both Lillian and her family. Yet, her story has already inspired countless people, serving as a testament to the strength of the human spirit, the miracles of modern medicine, and the power of courage, love, and quick action in the face of life-threatening emergencies.
Baby Lillian’s struggle is a stark reminder that life can change in an instant, but hope, skill, and unwavering care can make the impossible possible. As she remains under intensive care, her parents and community continue to pray, hoping that the tiny girl who defied death twice will soon recover and bring joy back to her family’s home.
Oleńka’s Fight – A Little Girl’s Battle Against Burns.2379

Oleńka is only a year and a half old. Her life, like that of any toddler, should be filled with laughter, discovery, and the joy of every new step. But on the day before New Year’s Eve, a single moment turned our world upside down. Despite my constant attention and care, Oleńka spilled
boiling milk on herself. In an instant, her tiny body suffered second- and third-degree burns across 12% of her body — her chest, neck, and right arm were severely affected. The right forearm sustained the deepest damage, classified as a third-degree Type B burn.
The panic and fear were overwhelming. I rushed her to the hospital in an ambulance, sirens blaring, every second feeling like an eternity. Doctors quickly assessed the severity of her injuries. Her right arm developed necrosis — areas of dead tissue so deep and extensive that urgent surgery became necessary. Under general anesthesia, Oleńka’s necrotic tissue was carefully removed. Days later, artificial skin was transplanted to cover the wounds and aid in the healing process.
Even after the surgeries, the challenges continued. We spent two weeks in the hospital immediately following the procedures. Today, Oleńka still requires frequent visits to the surgical clinic, two to three times a week, for dressing changes and consultations. Private specialists monitor her progress, and a series of tests ensure no complications arise. For months, her hand remained delicate, constantly “wet” and prone to bleeding. Suspected infections, including staphylococcus, required antibiotics. Only now is her healing showing signs of steady improvement. Specialized ointments and daily care are essential to prevent scarring and support proper recovery.

Despite her bravery, the financial burden of treatment is immense. We live solely on my husband’s salary, and the costs of ongoing care — surgeries, tests, specialist visits, medications, and rehabilitation — far exceed what we can manage. Every aspect of Oleńka’s recovery requires attention and resources. Future surgeries are anticipated to correct deformities and narrow areas left after excision of necrotic tissue, and these procedures are
no longer reimbursed. Rehabilitation will also be critical to ensure Oleńka regains mobility, function, and strength in her affected arm.
As a parent, there is nothing more painful than witnessing your child suffer. The memories of her cries, the fear that coursed through every fiber of my body, and the helplessness of those first hours in the hospital will remain with me forever. Any parent who has faced such an accident understands the torment of seeing a loved one in pain while powerless to undo the damage. All we can do now is ensure that Oleńka receives the care and resources necessary to recover fully, to minimize long-term consequences, and to give her the chance to live without limitations caused by this accident.

We have seen Oleńka’s resilience and courage firsthand. Despite the pain, the procedures, and the ongoing treatment, she responds with strength and determination. Her tiny body continues to fight every day, showing progress that brings hope and joy even amidst the ongoing struggle. Each small improvement — a wound healing, a movement of her fingers, a smile — is a victory in a battle no child should ever have to face.
That is why we are turning to the kindness of others. We are asking for help so that Oleńka can continue receiving the surgeries, rehabilitation, and specialized care she needs. Every contribution — whether financial support, sharing her story, or sending a message of encouragement — brings her closer to recovery and a brighter future. With your help, we can provide the tools, therapies, and medical attention necessary to ensure that she regains the full function of her arm and enjoys a life without pain or limitation.

Oleńka is a brave little girl whose life has already been marked by challenges no child should endure. She deserves the chance to play, explore, and grow without fear, to regain the abilities that the accident stole from her. We are committed to fighting for her every step of the way, but we cannot do it alone. Your support is her lifeline — the difference between ongoing struggle and a future filled with hope, healing, and possibilities.
Please help us give Oleńka the childhood she deserves, free from suffering, full of growth, and guided by the care and love she needs.
