Donald Trump has hinted that he could wash his hands of the Ukraine-Russia war as the two nations fail to agree on a peace deal. Last week, Trump said of the ongoing war: “Sometimes you have to let people fight it out”. However, the new chief of MI6, Blaise Metreweli, has promised that the UK’s support of Ukraine is unwavering.

She used her first speech at the Secret Intelligence Service headquarters to say: “Putin should be in no doubt, our support is enduring. The pressure we apply on Ukraine‘s behalf will be sustained.”

It is speculated that Trump could remove the US intelligence that has been vital to Ukraine throughout the war. This comes as the US’s new national security strategy suggests that Russia is no longer classed as an “existential threat” to America.

So, do you think the UK should stand by Ukraine if Trump pulls support from the US? Share your thoughts in our poll below.
